Towel wedding cakes are not hard to do and don't take a long time to make, but to be successful, you need to be careful in folding the towels during the assembly process.

1 Lay one small hand towel flat on your work surface. Fold the towel lengthwise into thirds by pulling the top of the towel down to the middle and pulling the bottom of the towel up to the middle. Smooth out the towel with your hand to eliminate creases and wrinkles. Make sure the towel is folded evenly. Repeat this process with the second small hand towel.
2 Arrange the two small folded towels next to each other, end to end. Slightly overlap one of the towel's ends so that both towels are connected. Next, slide the towels over and out of the way to make room for the other towels. Be careful not to unfold the towels while moving them.
3 Lay one of the large bath towels flat on your work surface. Smooth out the towel with your hands. Fold the towel lengthwise in half. Secure the towel with some safety pins to keep it from unfolding. Repeat this process with the other two bath towels.
4 Arrange all three of the large, folded bath towels lengthwise next to one another, end to end. Allow the ends of the towels to slightly overlap one another and pin those ends together with safety pins. Use three to five safety pins per towel, depending on the size of the pins.
5 Turn the row of bath towels so that it is perpendicular to you. Grasp the end of the towel that is closest to you and begin rolling it away from you. As the towel rolls forward, keep pulling the length toward you. Stop rolling every few inches and secure the roll with a safety pin. Continue until the roll is finished. Secure with several safety pins at the edge of the finished roll.
6 Set this top tier of the cake aside. Repeat the same steps with the two small hand towels.
7 Place the hand towel tier on top of the bath towel tier. Make sure it is centered. Slide the wooden dowel into the center of the top and bottom tiers. Adjust the towels to correct any shifting as needed. Apply two small pieces of tape across the top of the dowel in an X pattern so that the tape adheres to the top of the towels.
